Project: Enhancing Women Role in the Solid Waste Management in Jordan, Donor: UNDP /GAC or the duration May 1, 2021 to March 31, 2023 for value of US$ 502,000.

The Project is built around three tracks:
- Enhancing and strengthening the role of CBOs/CSOs to enable such organizations to work effectively and efficiently with women within the targeted communities to become a vehicle for women and women’s voices in decision-making processes.
- Provision of financial support to the CBOs/CSOs and Cooperatives to start working on increasing participation of women in the local economy, particularly in/ or linked to the solid waste sector, through designing and managing green business groups’ projects.
- Working with national and local government to enhance gender informed and responsive policy making in SWM at local and national levels.
Future pioneers worked with 10 CBOs resulting in the following Green productive and employment projects for the local community that employed 600 women:
- Upcycling and reusing textile waste and secondhand clothes
- Produce green, ecofriendly bags to preserve the environment and reduce plastic waste
- Environmental and green packaging for herbal products.
- Providing devices for renewable energy and rationalizing energy consumption
- Reuse of waste banana and saffron leaves
- Collecting glass and turning it into granules and making mosaic shapes
- Plastic Recycling.
- Food repurposing in coordination with Carrefour
- Fish farming and hydroponic in North Shouneh which included:
- Four plastic houses for hydroponic farming.
- Excavated a water well to harvest rainwater to be used for the farming.
- Installed solar system to reduce electricity bills.
- Procured and established fish aquariums and ponds to raise fish and use its water for the hydroponic farming.
- The project is currently producing high quality fish, fruits and vegetables with attractive packaging supported by marketing team.


And the last project was Al-Kura sorting and composting facility
