The main objective of the project is to lead the process of developing, designing, and conducting a comprehensive awareness campaign to increase (public) awareness amongst the community of the pilot area in Radwan Neighbourhood and to instruct about source separation in order to achieve a long-lasting high number of waste generators sensitized for- and participating in the source separation of waste. The pilot area includes almost 2,200 households, Ministries, commercials, hotels, schools and Embassies The efficiency of a solid waste management system highly depends on the cooperation and the willingness of the service´s recipients to support and the close cooperation of GAM.

During the period Aug 18 – Dec ,31 2019 the team managed to do:

The analysis of pre questionnaire proved that the acceptance and cooperation rate is more than 80% Launching event for the pilot
area. Door to door awareness for 2,200 households , distributed flyers and collection calendars and completed a pre questionnaire. The same was done for eight ministries, 50 commercials, six hotels and two schools located in the same area

By January 2020,4 the project started the separated collection system where there is a truck for the Grey bins (Other
Waste) and a truck for yellow bins (Recyclables) which takes these materials to specific hanger to invest in these recyclables.
The project team will continue the monitoring of the sorting process by the households and do awareness for the ones who need further follow up.
